True meaning of education

Lately I came across few highly educated professionals of the country, it was a hugely looked forward to kind of an interaction for me as I felt that it will be great opportunity to meet the best of the best lot in the country.

But to my utter surprise, I found them very impolite, distrustful, arrogant and above all insensitive. It was an extremely sad to encounter and see my expectations being bombed so painfully. I kept pondering for many days about the outcome of the so called elite college pass outs, has it been successful in generating the contributors to the society or sending such high headed graduates who do not have the basic elements of human respect and values.

I feel that the sole aim of education must be to help an individual bring out the best in him/her, the potential. The best of an individual cannot be comparable, relatable or even verifiable. It is very subjective assessment for the outcome of education. The education system of any country must aim at the following:

  1. Development of a human potential
  2. Respect for diversity leading to collaborations
  3. Generate a sense of well being and happiness

If all the above are being groomed and developed in an individual through the formal education then only we can call a person educated and a good world citizen. Wish to see a society where there is love, respect and peace among all. Evolution should be joyous journey not a race to be won and set records for others to chase.
